That Lump, Bump, or Spot
You've Been Ignoring

If you've noticed a mole, cyst, skin tag, or lesion that concerns you — or that's simply been bothering you — you don't have to keep ignoring it.

At PSSC, minor skin procedures are performed by Dr. Victoria Hayward, a board-certified plastic surgeon with extensive training in precise, scar-minimizing removal techniques. That level of expertise matters — especially when a lesion is on your face, neck, or another visible area.

Most procedures are completed the same day as your consultation, under local anesthetic, and you can drive yourself home after.

When Should You Have Something Assessed?

If a lesion is changing in size, shape, or colour — or if it's bleeding, itching, or feels different — it warrants an assessment. Dr. Hayward will evaluate it and give you a clear, honest recommendation.

Even if you're not sure whether something needs attention, booking a consultation is always the right first step.

  • No fasting required beforehand
  • Local anesthetic — fully awake throughout
  • You can drive yourself home after
  • Consultation and procedure same day
  • Most procedures take 15–45 minutes
  • OHIP and self-pay options available

Procedures We Perform

Dr. Hayward handles a wide range of minor skin, soft-tissue, and hand procedures — both cosmetic and medically necessary.

Mole Removal

Removal of benign moles that are cosmetically bothersome, uncomfortable, or changing in appearance. Suspicious moles are sent for pathology testing to ensure your peace of mind. Learn more about mole removal →

Cyst Removal

Complete surgical removal of sebaceous, epidermal, and other skin cysts. Unlike drainage alone, removing the cyst and its capsule where appropriate can reduce the likelihood of recurrence and resolve repeated inflammation or infection. Learn more about cyst removal →

🔶

Lipoma Removal

Removal of soft, fatty lumps beneath the skin. Lipomas are harmless but can become uncomfortable or bothersome. Complete surgical removal can reduce the likelihood of recurrence, although recurrence is still possible. Learn more about lipoma removal →

Suspicious & Cancerous Lesions

OHIP vs. Self-Pay

No referral needed. Your consultation is complimentary. Refer yourself and book directly — Dr. Hayward will assess your lesion at no cost to you. What happens next depends on what she finds:

Track 1 · OHIP Covered

Medically Necessary Removal

If your lesion is suspicious for skin cancer, or diagnosed as a keloid scar, the removal itself is covered by OHIP. This includes:

  • Basal cell carcinoma
  • Squamous cell carcinoma
  • Melanoma
  • Keloid scars

Not sure if your lesion qualifies? Book your complimentary consultation and Dr. Hayward will assess it and advise you clearly.

Track 2 · Self-Pay

Cosmetic Removal

If your lesion is benign and you'd like it removed for appearance or comfort, the removal itself is self-pay:

  • Skin tags — starting at $300
  • Moles, cysts, lipomas & other lesions — starting at $450

Final pricing depends on the size, location, and complexity of the area, and is confirmed at your consultation.

Skip the Months-Long Wait

Hospital and referral waits for minor procedures can stretch many months — long enough for a bothersome lesion to grow or a hand condition to worsen.

PSSC offers fast local access in Newmarket, with consultation and removal often completed in a single visit. No referral is required — refer yourself and book directly with Dr. Hayward's office.

Serving York Region — and Beyond

Why Choose a Board-Certified
Plastic Surgeon

The skill and training of the person removing a lesion has a direct impact on your result — especially when it comes to scarring.

🎯
Precision Technique

Every procedure includes plastic-surgery closure technique to minimize scarring — standard with your surgery, never an add-on. Especially important for lesions on the face, neck, or other visible areas.

🔬
Proper Diagnosis

Only a physician can determine whether a lesion is truly benign. Suspicious lesions are sent for pathology to give you clarity and peace of mind.

Complete Removal

Complete removal is the goal where medically appropriate, with the approach tailored to the individual lesion — reducing the likelihood of repeat procedures.
